Root Canal Treatment:  People often think of a root canal as a difficult and painful procedure.  However, most root canals that are performed by Endodontists are pain free and comfortable.  Below is a video explaining in detail the root canal procedure.

Endodontic Retreatment and Apicoectomy:  In some cases, a root canal may fail and the tooth can become infected again.  When this happens it is usually recommended that a retreatment of the root canal is performed.  This may be done by Endodontic Retreatment or by a surgery called an Apicoectomy.  Below is a video explaining in detail the retreatment of a root canal.

Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide:

We are happy to offer our patients the option of being sedated during his/her procedure. We offer sedation in three different forms. One form is by Nitrous Oxide or more commonly known as “laughing Gas”. Nitrous Oxide helps to calm the patient and reduce anxiety. It is a very safe, effective, and inexpensive way to make your appointment more comfortable. No prior appointment is needed to receive this method of sedation. You will be able to drive yourself home after the appointment.

Oral Sedation:

Another option we provide is to be sedated by medication that is taken orally. We will prescribe the medication to you prior to your treatment. This method can provide a greater level of comfort and relaxation than Nitrous Oxide. The medication will make you feel sleepy and relaxed but you will be awake during your procedure. You will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment, and stay with you for a few hours after the appointment while your are under the influence of the medication.

IV Sedation:

This method of sedation is this most pain free and comfortable method. We will schedule another practitioner to come in to our office and sedate you or “put you to sleep” with the use of sedative agents through an IV. This is a great option for nervous patients, as they will have very little or no memory of the procedure and will feel no pain. This type of sedation requires pre-evaluation, and you will need an escort to drive you home and remain with you for a few hours after treatment.

Technology

Cone Beam: At our office we always provide you with the best care possible. We use a 3D imaging system called a Cone Beam. A Cone Beam scan provides us with more detailed, 3D images of the affected area and allows us to make a more informed and in depth decision about your treatment. The images are produced very quickly and allow us to make a diagnosis within minutes. This new technology also reduces radiation exposure making it safe and effective.

Benefits of the Cone Beam include:

  • More accurate diagnosis and treatment plans
  • High resolution images that give the doctor more information than traditional x-rays
  • Less radiation than other similar x-ray systems
  • No large and uncomfortable sensors in the patient’s mouth
  • Improved visualization of root fractures, internal tooth anatomy, and root canal systemsD
